Summer Blues
Hello
My Boyfriend and I want to stay together over the summer. Only a couple problems though…
We don’t live close to each other and we don’t drive.
We’re both going away a lot and can’t talk or see each other that much.
I can’t text him because he doesn’t have a phone.
Do you have any tips or advice for making this relationship work over the summer?
We’re crazy about each other!

Great question, and timely, too. A lot of couples are facing similar obstacles this summer.
I have a good feeling about you guys as a couple for two reasons.
1) Your last line: “We’re crazy about each other!” (That is soooo sweet, even to the Oracle, who admits to being jaded sometimes.)
2) You have already identified the potential problems and are looking for advice to solve them.
It sounds like you won’t be seeing a lot of your boyfriend this summer, but that doesn’t mean the relationship can’t work. In fact, absence can add a whole new element of excitement to your relationship. It can actually make you appreciate each other more.
I have a suggestion for what to do when you’re both away and can’t email or text. Some would say it’s a downright ancient practice, but it’s also incredibly romantic…
Write letters to each other! (Some call it snail mail, but the Oracle believes that doesn’t do it justice.) There is something very poignant and heartfelt about a traditional letter, especially if it’s handwritten. And since you’ll both be going away a lot, you’ll have plenty of new experiences to share in your letters. They can also be keepsakes for when you look back and remember that summer apart.
Sure, writing letters involves more effort than an email or a text, but it’s also more rewarding. So if you guys do the work, you’ll make it work.

The Oracle of Dating
I had a problem like that too. But, I would send him letters too. But, there is still a problem! I don’t have his address yet! He gave me his cell number but he seems like he isn’t really a texter. And first of all I don’t even have a cell phone yet (Strict parents!)! So I don’t know how we could keep in touch with each other because I am too much of a wimp to call him and just chat. But I really miss him!
i have the same problem but i wanna break up with him cuz i dont feel any more SPARKS. the issue is that my parents love him and i dont wanna make him cry . i mean he realy realy likes me but i think of him as more like a friend . WHAT DO I DO ????
Some say that the art of writing letters is so yesterday, similar to guys paying on the first date. BTW. I think that if a guy does not want to pay on the first date that he is cheap and self centered, but that’s just my opinion.
Getting back to the subject at hand, I really think that writing letters by hand is a cool thing to do. It gives you practice writing, which is a good skill to have in school, in college and in the workplace too. It also puts your thoughts down on paper and lets you THINK about what you are writing before you send it off to the recipient which is WAY better than email or even talking to someone on the phone. Getting a letter is something classic and classy that will NEVER go out of style.
There is this really cute guy I have been crushing on but now he likes my best friend and lots of other people like him , but everyone likes him for his drawings .
